It's a memory as you say... it's not a birthday per say... when I was young my parents used to throw me a party at this italian/pizza/restaurant... I remember the chairs, the smell, the giggles, the games, the puppet theather... everything... it must have happened 1 or 2 times but to me it's like my whole childhood...
Geez....my best birthday memory...hmmmm....I have so many because I've had so many birthdays!!
One in particular was when I was about 10 or so...my mother and I were returning home with my cake and our little chihuahua came running out the door. She was still attached to her chain and I didn't see it because of the cake box i was holding. I tripped over the leash and FELL. Right into the cake FACE FIRST.
My most fun b-day was both my 30th and my 40th. What a party!!

My best memory is my 20th birthday (Geez, it's gonna be 10 years soon...)
It was the first time I put myself out there and threw a party. I was always afraid that people wouldn't come, that it would be lame, all those things. It was a hit! I love remembering all my friends together partying with me that night... :love01:

My best birthday was my 18. My father does my best party. Many friends, my first car and my driver card.
I was so happy :)

I have had so many parties so it's hard to choose. But I would have to say that my fondest memory of a birthday was my 18th. (I don't know about the US or anywhere else, but in Australia turning 18 is a big deal). My family asked me where I wanted to go for dinner and I jokingly said McDonalds.
So that night there was a table of my whole family (including my wonderful Granny) singing Happy Birthday to me at the local McDonalds restuarant. :)

I've had some fun birthdays as a child but the birthday that first came to mind was my birthday 3 years ago when I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. DH surprised me with a day at the spa! He told me we were going to visit his aunt in Pasadena and even pretended to receive a call from her saying that she had to leave for a little bit so we'd meet up a little later. So, we proceeded to go to downtown and there was the spa. He took the 2 kids with him and left me and picked me up in time for dinner. It was heavenly!!!

I remember of one birthday, when I was 9...all of my school friends came to my home, it was Hello Kitty themed....LOL!! My big sister(she's 15 years older than me) baked the cake and decorated with little lollypops, like they were balloons!
it was a big big mess!! oh, I miss my big sis, she's livin' in Italy....

Ferdy, the story of your cake reminds me of another birthday of mine. My family really wanted me to celebrate my 40th birthday but I wanted it to go past quietly. In the end, we compromised and I had my family over for a bbq. My children (who were then 15 and 3) made a cake and decorated it. Because my DH's birthday is a few days after mine, they included both names and we had to cut it together.

The birthday I remember the most, was when I was about 15. My best friend had planned a surprise slumber party for me. I had NO idea till I
got there. My parents said we were dropping by to take her to dinner with us. The thing she didn't realize was, I really HATED sleeping over anywhere. LOL...Of course it turned out to be wonderful. I was so shy back
then, I didn't realize I had so many friends. Awwww ....
She still is my best friend to this day, a few decades later I might add.
