My 5 year old has just discovered her first loose tooth about an hour ago and is soooo excited - lol!!!! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it usually takes for the teeth to fall out. She is downstairs eating an apple at the moment hoping it will fall out today. Also, out of curiosity, what is the tooth fairy paying for teeth these days? I would love to know how much your kids get for theirs.

Suzy I hate to tell you but it may take days yet before it comes out! DD#1 took about a week to lose her first tooth after it became really wobbly, and boy did she eat some apples in that time!

Oh and she got a $2 coin, got to keep her tooth with a special Tooth Fairy marking on it! Only the tooth fairy can see it you know... and we got her to write a note to tooth fairy so tooth fairy "wrote" {think computer written and printed in miniature} a note back to her thanking her for the lovely note and telling her about the special tooth fairy mark on her tooth!

She was the talk of her class for days!

Oh gosh, is she really old enough to be losing teeth ???

Depending on how wobbly it is... days to weeks.

We left the tooth in a glass of water beside the bed, the tooth fairy leaves a gold coin at our house and takes the tooth...she also sprinkles fairy dust on the way out.

Just hope that it falls out at home, not somewhere where she can lose it.

Well the tooth is still there, but it is VERY wobbly!! I should have taken some pics today - will have to remember to do that tomorrow. Thank you so much for the ideas - I will definitely be getting her to write the tooth fairy a letter and I love the idea of the fairy dust. Will have to pick some up tomorrow.

She is hoping it will fall out before she goes back to school on Monday after 2 weeks off. I have no idea who she has been talking too, but she actually told us in the car tonight that the tooth fairy leaves a gold coin - lol!!! We will have to be sure to have one spare or we might have to raid her money box.

After losing something like 6 teeth in the past 6 months, we are becoming experts lol.

Miss Six leaves her tooth in a special tooth fairy pillow. The first time she left it under her pillow but that wasn't too good for us so the tooth fairy left her a note telling her that she had trouble getting it and to leave it on the bookcase beside her bed in future.
The only other time the tooth fairy has left a note (think computer written and embellished with fairies and stardust from various kits) was when she just absolutely forgot to come one night. So she left a note apologising the next night when she came.

It's usually $2 payment for the teeth.

Hope her tooth falls out before she goes to school. If it doesn't then tell the teacher before school that she has a wobbly tooth and let her know to go to the teacher if her tooth falls out. I've had one tooth come home from school in a large envelope with "Nada's tooth" written on the front.
