Have you ever sat down and really talked to a senior citizen? Growing up, most of my contemporaries didn’t pay much attention to their grandparents or anyone considerably senior to them. I have always found that the seniors of our society have the most interesting and colorful stories to tell. I would rather have listened to my grandpa’s stories of growing up during the great depression in Oklahoma City than watch my favorite television show or go out on the town with my friends. There is so much to be learned from people who lived at a very different time in history than us. So, that is the theme of this week’s heritage challenge, “Ancestral Pearls of Wisdom”. The rules…a layout featuring at least one important lesson you learned from one of your ancestors or elders. Including a picture of the subject would be great but is not required. For example, I have done a layout of my grandfather, who always seemed to have a witty little story or pearl of wisdom about life. As always, the layout must be based in the 1970’s or earlier to be considered “Heritage” and should include 50% of Scrap Artist goodies in order to count toward your March Madness contest points.
Don’t forget to post a link to your layout here so we can all admire your artwork!
Have fun!
Here is my sample layout:

Ladies, surely you learned something from your ancestors LOL Even if it was what NOT to do in life, that's okay too. It doesn't necessarily need to be a one liner type of thing (that was just my grandpa's sense of humor). It can be any story that you heard growing up that may have made a big impression on you maybe it even changed your perspective on life one way or another (i.e. your ancestor gambled away all of his money, leaving his family broke and this made you "wise up" about managing your money, etc etc)....is this helping at all? LOL
I know there are alot of things I learned NOT TO DO on my paternal side of the family LOL!:lmao:
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I'm sure it will be fabulous!

I did it!!!
I really wanted to scrap about my grandmother as she was such an important part of my life and I miss her very much. (Please excuse the typos in my journalling in the comments - I retyped it all late last night so you could read it. I promise the journalling on the layout is typo free)! :blushing:
