View Full Version : Tip for 11/15 - "Defog"

I ran across this little tidbit while surfing some photography forums, and I thought it was a great little help! :)

It's called "defog" and it can really give your pictures a little "pop" and make them sharpen up a bit.

All you have to do is run unsharp mask with settings of 20, 60, 0. (Filter, Shapen, Unsharp Mask will get you there in the menus.)

I"ll post some before and afters to show you an example.

The photo on the left is before running defog and the photo on the right is after.

Tried this on a coupla photos, and it work great! Gives just enough sharpening.

What a great tip! I tried it out on a couple of photos that could use some "pop" and it gave them just the boost they needed! Great sleuthing! TFS!:cool:

Love this tip (I first hear about it from Jenn and was clueless when she mentioned that I should try it on a photo that was fuzzier than normal). Now I do this to all my photos that I print (either single prints or ones going to a LO) since purchasing my dSLR. It works wonders. I love the example you posted here. Thanks for the great tips!!
