about baking cookies and brownies for some of the neighbors and family. Anyone have any good recipes or ideas? I think I'm going to the store tonight to get all of the supplies. I even need new cookie sheets. So sad LOL! I'm not a baker so I never have these things on hand.
I have a fabulous sugar cookie recipe. :) You up for some refrigeration?? It is super soft--so you have to refrigerate it before you roll it out to use the cookie cuters. :)
If you want it I'll post it. :)

with the cookies :) ? There is some space in our fridge too:rolleye11:
LOL--no not the cookies. :) I just had to get somethings done before I got back on. (self-discipline--or something like that)LOL!
When we make cookies to give away we double this (so we have plenty for us to eat too.) :)
SUGAR COOKIES
2 cups of flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
6 Tablespoons butter/margarine (softened-but not melted)
1/3 cup shortening (crisco--you can use butter or margarine here, too, but it will give the cookies a slightly yellow look)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
Beat the butter, shortening, sugar.
Then add egg, milk, and vanilla. mix.
Add dry ingredients.
The dough is very soft. Divide in 1/2 (or if you doubles the recipe in 1/4) and cover (I wrap it in wax paper) and chill for 3 hours in the refrigerator.
when rolling the dough out for cookies:
flour the table and the dough lightly and roll from the center out to about 1/8 inch thick. (we like ours a little thicker than that)
Lightly spray cooking spray on the cookie sheet.
place cookie cut outs on sheet and bake
375 degrees for about 8 minutes.
The trick for not over cooking them is to get them out when the bottom edges are starting to turn light brown.
let them cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes.
then after they cool you can decorate them with frosting. :)

Thank you! You also reminded me that I need to add shortening to my list of supplies LOL! Looks like I'll be spending some money at the grocery store tonight, sigh LOL!
