With Robyn on vacation this week, I have the privilege of posting the heritage challenge, and a little early, as this is a challenge that is part of the Tuesday 2-fer challenges found on the Scrap Artist Blog, The Hub, along with the altered/collage challenge every week.

This week's challenge is called How did Mary's Garden Grow? Simply put, the challenge is to scrap a heritage photo (defined as 1970's or before)or if you have no photo, but do have an interesting family story, journal it, with the subject of gardens, or horticulture (if you had an uncle that was a farmer) or an aunt that had a green thumb...lets scrap and journal those pages with the outdoors theme this week!

My page is called Grace Woods Reagan (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=49164&limit=recent), who was my grandfather's father's brother's daughter...or more simply put, my grandpas cousin. I don't even think my grandfather ever even knew her, as his father had so many brothers and sisters, and this particular one lived out of state and with the lack of email and text messaging, families fell out of touch easily back in the day. The reason we even have these photos is because my siter is a genealogist who re-discovered her and contacted her recently and acquired them for our family tree.

But evidently, Grace was a wonderful gardner! If photos don't tell lies! :)
Please play with me this week! I can't wait to see what you post! Link us here in this thread so we don't miss out!

Ha. Ha. Ha. A very appropriate thing to do this week! Ya DIG? :)

Very cool challenge, Christine. My grandpa's brother was a famous onion farmer. Yes, onion farmer. Famous. :) He even wrote a book! Gotta see what I can do with THAT!

i hope to get time to DIG through my photos too.

hubbie DUG a hole through the back of his hand yesterday, with an angle grinder, made a mess, i had a 25 mile fast trip with him from our farm to the hospital, panic. then seven hours later the hospital here had him flown 500 miles to our capital city, where operation has gone well, no fingers gone, just made a yukky mess of the back of his hand, no fun i can tell you. not sure if i am going over there yet, see how long he has to be there. so if i dont get an entry you will know why. hope to do one tomorrow, so exhausted tonight.

bye now

SUE

thanks for this challenge, has taken my mind off hubbies hand!!

update, i havent gone down to be with him as they might send him back to the hospital in our town in the next couple days. he still has five fingers thank heavens, but boy is he in pain... I am exhausted from answering phone calls and explaining it all, i didnt realise so many people cared... it has been lovely. Anyway i am sure it is going to take some time to recover, but it looks quite positive at the moment even if it is painful. he is going to get a surprise today, our son from five hours other side of Adelaide, has come up there to see him, taken time off work. kevin will be so surprised, they will both cry!!! thanks for the kind comments. i guess in the long run, our problems are small compared to others, and especially to you guys in USA where that bridge accident has happened. how awful.

bye now... sue from south australia.

Here is my layout for this week. I grew up on a strawberry farm, my parents grew other crops as well, but the strawberries were the most dear to my heart (and taste buds, lol) TFL :)
