I have to say, I really like Blake, but I'm definitely excited that an Arizona girl won it all :) I thought the finale was great - we hadn't even planned to watch much of it, but I loved seeing Tony Bennett and Green Day!

Just WAIT till you hear my story. SO. We are both IDOL lovers and LOST lovers at our house. Guess what?! The shows OVER-LAPPED last night. After much haggling and organizing, we thought it would be a better use of our time to go off of idol for the last hour, recording it on our dvr and watch LOST "live" and watch the end of IDOL afterward quickly so we can fast forward through the cheesy awards and has-been artist performances lol which was all a great plan except....IDOL went over time and we didn't get the ANNOUNCEMENT recorded! ARGH!!! OF course I was pretty sure Jordin would win and it was easy enough to check it out online but I was so frustrated that we didn't have those last few minutes recorded. Poop!

that was a terrible scheduling mess - I'm a Lost watcher too and I ended up taping Lost and watching it from ten to midnight so I could see it all together (yeah, I need TiVo LOL). I didn't even realize Idol went over - I bet there's a bunch of ticked off people out there! I bet you could find it on YouTube somewhere if you want to see it :)
LOL! DI, the exact same thing happened to us. Only we weren't watching Lost, we were just waiting until the kids went to bed. And then we could of just caught the last hour and all would have fine, but NOOOOOO! We decided to watch from the beginning and then we missed the announcement too. LAME!!
I am glad Jordin (sp) won, because she was definitely the better singer, but Blake is fun to watch. I am sure they will both do well. The whole show was fun with Kelly, and Rueben, and Carrie, etc. It was fun.
Lesson learned--DVR the next show afterwards too, so as not to miss the ending. :) LOL!!

I suppose great minds think alike eh? Coz that was my "plan" too. DH couldn't care less. And like you, we missed the announcement too!

Oh no Tana and Joy! ARGH! Well at least I wasn't the only one. It's okay - I forgot to tell you my other funny IDOL story....so my dh doesn't want to wait, after LOST, to find out who won IDOL so he goes and looks it up on the internet. My 14 year old son wants to know too, and on his way to the screen swears that he won't spoil my surprise but just wants to know and before he even realizes it, he reads the winning name O-U-T L-O-U-D in his newly basso voce lol and then swore up and down that hey DIDN'T say it OUT LOUD lol after which we got into a huge guffaw over teenagers roflol. So it was ruined for me anyway lol.

LOL guys. Well I obviously don't watch AMERICAN Idol but I have watched the last 2 or 3 Australian Idols.
I've noticed though that two times out of three, the runner up gets more exposure and does better than the winner. Have you found the same thing over there?
Both the winner and the runner up from series 1 over here are still doing well. The winner from series two has dropped off the face of the earth but the runner-up is on tv and releasing CD's all the time. And the winner of the last series here is doing really well but then so is the runner up.
And can I just say that I loathe when tv shows run overtime. I don't watch Big Brother here but watch the shows that come on after and if we set the video to tape something, we often miss the end because BB runs overtime. So annoying.
And I am also a Lost fan although we are quite a way behind you guys. We've just seen where Benry takes Locke to meet his father.

I think it's gone that way with American Idol too - although some of the winners have done really well, there are definitely some runners-up and even third-fifth place people who are really making it here. One of them even won an Oscar this year!
