We just posted the new Altered/Collage Challenge on the Scrap Artist Team Blog this morning. CLICK HERE (http://scrapartist.typepad.com/the_hub/2007/04/heritage_altere.html) to go directly to the post.
Christine came up with a wonderful challenge. Here's what she said (taken from the blog post):
This month in our altered/collage challenge we are thrilled to be altering Bingo cards! I have noticed Bingo cards and other vintage game pieces in the art of many of my favorite collage artist’s artwork, and just love the look they have. Admittedly, there is somewhat of a “disconnect” between the use of a Bingo card and the artist’s subject; why the heck are we using a Bingo card as a base for a funky collage or ATC, anyway? And yet, on the other hand, something makes total sense when you consider marrying a vintage image or stamp with a card that symbolizes chance and the hope of big winnings, and a successful future, RIGHT???!
Of course, as is true with all art, it doesn’t have to make any sense at all, and that is the beauty of this type of art in particular! For example, check out the pieces at this site link (http://www.b-muse.com/artist-trading-cards-g.HTM#color). Be sure to see the “Marilyn Series,” the “Endangered Species Series” and the “Opera Series” ... or especially the “now for something completely different” card! Kooky and wonderful! And yet, these are all done in real life with collage sheets, magazines, paint, scissors and glue! As you see what these artists are doing, imagine how creative a digital artist could get with a Bingo card!
Here are our samples: Christine's card (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=38466), Robyn's card (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=38480)
There is even a free Bingo card to use (the link is in the blog post) so there are no excuses. LOL!! Have fun and be sure to post a link to your layout in this thread so we can all admire it!
