I have a question for anyone who scraps with the purpose of making scrapbooks! How do you arrange your albums? Do you make a seperate album for you kids and your family? Do you make an album for each child and then have an album strictly for family? Or do you print out 2 of the same layout to put in each album?
I have a little girl, Rachel, who is one. I knew for sure that I wanted her to have her own 'baby album' for her first year. But now that she is one I am not sure if I should continue making her an album just for her....especially since I just found out I am expecting!!!
How do I keep these albums straight????
Any advice on how you do it in your family would be fantastic!!

Hi Joy...
I can't offer you any advice but I was reading someone's blog a few days ago and they were spotlighting someone's organization skills. It was amazing how organized this person was. Will try to remember where I read it and come back to post a link.
I'm sure someone here will have plenty of advice for you. The forums are especially quiet this holiday weekend...

Hi, Joy
I have two kids. They all have their first year album (my second baby is 5months and i´m doing her album this year separately). But my goal is to have an album per year, with the highlights. So, from next year on, i´ll have a family album for each year. I thinnk it´s a good way to organize memories!

I also have a blog with some friends with scrapbook tips and i have written a long one about organization. But it´s in portuguese! :dontknow:

Well, I don't have kids yet, but I have nephews and nieces and friends' kids to deal with along with all of our photos, and I've adapted a system based on Stacy Julian's system. She has a book called The Big Picture (and a class on her system at her site named Big Picture Scrapbooking) that talks about her approach. Basically she keeps a set of albums - one is something like "who we are" in which she has a section for all her family members - just files them under separate tabs. Then she keeps other books of places they go, things they do, people they love (non-family members), etc. That way, the pages that are expressly about a particular child are all together in one family album and the ones that deal more with activities or family stuff, etc. are in their own place. I don't know if that makes sense - Stacy explains it much better LOL! Anyway, the book is actually for sale in the shop here and I highly recommend it :)

Hi!
I decided to keep it to minimum... everything about our family is in the family album (1 by 2 years) except for our trips who got each a separate album. I don't print all of my layout. Only the one telling a story.

I think I have finally worked out what works for me :)
I have an albums for
ME
DH
DD
Nature & Pets
Travel
Other than these regular 8 1/2 x 11 I make heaps of mini albums like pregnancy, DD's first year, birthdays etc.
I havent bothered with taking extra copies yet ... but I have them all in flattened PNG to print later (hopefully printing costs will come down LOL!)
