i haven't seen it done yet, but i just bought the new stamped alphas from the shoppe. i just tried to recolor a letter with no luck. i tried selecting the letter with my magic wand, but i get the letter and then some extra... so does anyone know how to do this in psp 8.1 or 9?
thanks!
lisa
editing to say, i thought they were colored since that is the way they are shown in the preview, but when i opened it up, they were all black so i just thought, no prob, i can make them whatever color i want! and there is where i hit a wall!

In psp 9 there is a color replacer tool. kinda looks like the clone tool. you click on it. then go to the color selection boxes on the right. and click on the top one. take your color picker and pick the color of the letter right from the letter, now go to the background box and color pick the color you want to change it to. now double RIGHT click on the letter. That should replace the color.

Sorry for the confusion on these! Glad you were able to get them recolored in your program!
I created them as brushes in PSCS - that's how I colored them. I chose the brush, then the color.

that would work in most programs but unfortunatly in PSP the brushes do not get very big so most of us choose to use the png format and resize. That is one of my major complaints about PSP is that the brushes are very small compared to the capabilities in PS or other programs. Hopefully they will change that :)

Can I recolor those alphas with PSE 3.0?

[waving back atcha!] Welcome Scrapk. I think you should be able to do this in pse3. I am guessing that it won't be much different than pse2 or pscs. If you are using the alpha as a png, just place the color you want the alpha to be in your foreground color palette. Then select Enhance/Adjust Color/Hue and Saturation. In the hue interface, select colorize and move the sliders around until you find the right color parameters. The menu location might be a little diff in pse 3 but the general instructions should work the same.

I usually just select blending options, color overlay in PS7, reduce the opacity, and change the color until I get something I like. It works pretty well for me. Oh, I also copy the color number (don't know the professional term) that I come up with to use on the rest of the letters I am working with. HTH!
