Hi everyone, I need your opinions on how to "shop" digital. I have been collecting kits for over a year now, some freebies, some I buy. I love what I see in this gallery, but some how i feel my Layouts don't fit in here :(. Every layout I see is full of elements or if it is simple it has enough but yet stand out. Anyway I have bought kits when i think they are perfect for a picture...or simply because I liked it...but I feel I'm always missing something. I'm not sure if I have been taking the wrong decisions on my purchases or how would I choose to buy elements...I see must of the time is All about the elements. I would love to hear you opinions. I 'm beginning to get frustrated here! Help please:dontknow:

First off, I went over and took a peek at your gallery and I'd say you're off to a good start with what you have there :) As for advice, I always think that you have to buy what you love - that's really the starting place for me, it's hard to be creative and let your artistic side flow if you're trying to force it with something that you just bought because it's what everyone else is doing - just buy what makes you happy :) Beyond that, I find it really helpful to read up a little on design in general (there are a ton of great books out there for graphic designers and now a lot on Scrapbook design too - in fact Scrapbooks etc. had one on Scrapbook design a while back that I thought was quite good) and to study layouts that I love. Scraplifting is a great way to start to figure some of those things out too - there's something about actually putting together a layout that's like one you love that starts to help you see how everything fits together. Just be sure to give credit when you post the layout :) I hope some of that helps - just my two cents :)

I would have to say that you are off to a great start too! It's easy to get frustrated because there are so many designs, styles and designers out there. My advice would be to find elements that are basic enough to use with several different things. . . and then purchase papers that are appealing to you and make you want to use them! Sometimes I will buy a kit and love it, but I just can't find anything to go with it! That's when using a photo filter or changing my photo to B&W seems to work. Hopefully this helps some!
