What program is the best to use to create word art and how do you do it? I have been playing around some and I am lost!

First, I haven't ever made wordart for sale, so I'm guessing there are others who can give better advice than I, but I do make things for myself from time to time, so I'll give ya my two cents :)
I do it in Photoshop - I tend to put each word or set of words on separate layers in a new document (transparent) so that I can shuffle them around easily (I kind of decide first which words will be the large ones and which are just filler - those can often be put together on a layer). I then move things around until I'm happy with how it looks and then merge all the layers so that I can move it onto my page.
I also find The Font Thing very helpful in making word art. If you're not familiar with it, it's a program that loads all your fonts and then allows you to type in the very words you're going to use and see how they look in each font. I generally use that to decide on the fonts I will use because it can be a pain to change them in PS and because I don't like to have every single font installed in PS (it makes it slower).

there is a thread here under "Digital Brew" that is all about making definitions. This is just one form of word art. The instructions are quite helpful. You might want to start with a few definitions. They are fun, small in scope and useful!
