OK - this plagued me forever when I was learning Photoshop, but I wanted a pulldown menu that would show me the different font styles... well the newest version CS2 finally has that option, but for those of you who aren't using CS2, or are using Elements, here is a "sort of" solution. :)
Highlight the text in your document that you would like to change the font of. Then go to your font pull down menu and highlight the name of the font. Now use your arrow keys (the up and down ones to the right of your keyboard) to "arrow" up and down through your font list. This changes your text to each font one at a time. You can scroll through pretty quickly and it gives you a feel for your font style.
Hope this helps you out!

Thanks Ange, That has been bugging me FOREVER. Sometime I feel like I'm just "settling" becasue I don't want to spend forever looking through the fonts.

Also - if you hit control+h when you have the text highlighted it makes the highlight go away, but still keeps the selection. That way you can see the text better :)

Thankyou Ange- Your are going to save me some serious, precious time in the future! Great Tip!
I have been doing this for a while now, but I have noticed that it skips some of the fonts - has anyone else noticed that? I use PSE3.

Suzy I hav worked with PSE 2 and PS CS 2 and never noticed that... I'm not sure why that would be. Humm... are they strange fonts like Icons or something?

Sometimes a font only has capital letters - that can cause it to skip them I think
