One of the by-products of being the keeper of old family photos is a pile of pictures that I cannot identify. (OK ... I admit it ... I have BOXES of unidentified pictures!) Anyway, I'm sure that most of you also have an old picture or two with unidentified people in them. Or perhaps a picture with a group of people ... some of whom you know ... and some you don't.

Anyway, I have some unknowns that I just really love and it would be a shame to keep them in a box forever so this week we are scrapping them! You may have to get creative here. I titled this week's challenge after a really cool layout by d_rafferty called I wish... (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=17476&what=allfields&name=d_rafferty) Go check it out - it's an awesome example!

I can't wait to see what you come up with. Please make sure your photos are from the 1970's and before and post to the Heritage Challenge gallery and give us a link in this thread.

I will post my new example in a minute but for now, see Never Forgotten (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=16165&cat=500&ppuser=1707). I created this for a beautiful unknown baby from my husband's side.

***UPDATED: Here's my new example: Unknown Couple (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25810&cat=500&ppuser=1707)

Okay... here is one for me -

I don't know you? (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25828&cat=585)

Robin.. I have another photo I would like to do for this - but I know the who, just not the why of it. Do you think it would fit the challenge?

Robyn I am off again this week 500 miles to attend my mum's sister's funeral. Not sure whether i will get to do this challenge or not, depends when i get back.... Life isn't meant to be quiet for me at the moment...

I have just printed off over 30 a4 pages of LOs i have done over the past months and put them in an album to take across to the funeral to show my cousins... it's called showing off!!!!

great idea for this weeks challenge, and i would love to know more about how you hand tinted those colours into the photo.

hope to submit later in the week.

smiles

Sue

Sue - take care on your trip. We'll be thinking about you but don't worry about the challenge. Have fun showing off your stuff!

Hand tinting is actually quite simple in Photoshop. To colorize my photos, I roughly select the part I want to color with the Polygonal selection tool (you don't need to be precise yet), then I paint it the color I want, then I use a Photoshop blend mode (usually "soft light" or "overlay") and then erase the part that overlaps the part that should be colored using a soft-edge eraser. I hope that makes sense!

Robyn, this sounds like an interesting challenge. I have enough unidentified old pictures that I could fill several albums! For now, I'll just try to get one of them scrapped.

I have to many photo's with relatives of my ancestors which I didn't knew or couldn't trace. So perhaps I make also two layouts this round. But for starting my favorite old familyphoto's but also the one with the most, 22  missing persons. Here is my Lost in the Past (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=26125&nocache=1).

Sorry I have not been commenting on the layouts ladies. I was finishing up my final SA Apprentice kit. I just got it all done and sent off to the Scrap Artist ladies so I will catch up on your awesome layouts. Thanks for being patient with me!

Well...late again as usual! All week long I intended to do this challenge, but we had a ton of things going on over the weekend and I didn't get to it until today. I wanted to go ahead and work on this one because I have several unidentified photos.

This is one of a cute Mystery Baby (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=26375&cat=585)

Thanks for looking!
