As many of you know, I am involved in the Apprentice contest here at Scrap Artist. The assignment for us this week was element creation and one of the elements had to be something with glitter. Well, I had never made glitter before so I went on a glitter making mission and perhaps went overboard (as I often do!) and have glitterized everything in sight trying to perfect a real-looking glitter element. Because glitter is on my brain, I have decided to make the Heritage Challenge a simple one. Create a heritage layout (photos should be from the 1970's or before) and use glitter on the layout somewhere. You can use glitter from a kit you have, create your own, or ... drumroll ... I have created a few quick elements that you can download for free by CLICKING HERE (http://www.robynengland.com/images/sa/happyrobyn-glitter.zip). Here is a preview:
http://www.robynengland.com/images/sa/glitter.jpg
AND ... as a bonus, everyone who completes a glittery heritage layout and posts it to the Heritage Challenge gallery on or before October 22nd will receive my "Happy Hat" from my Round 3 Apprentice entry (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24496&cat=500&ppuser=1707) just because you make me so happy!
I will post my sample layout in the morning but be sure to go download my glitter elements now so you can get to work on your layout. Thank you to all of you who play along every week and welcome to all of our new friends! Heritage scrapping is so important to me and it gives me great joy to be able to spread some of my knowledge through this community here at Scrap Artist.

This challenge is just what I need to finish a layout with an old picture of my Dad and two friends at a party (or at least slightly intoxicated :)). Never even thought of using glitter, but now that you come to mention it....

I'm still scared to post a layout. As a newbie I have to learn a lot and I always ask myself is this 'scrap' correctly. But I give it a try. Here is my Stages of Life (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24780&nocache=1) of my Grandma at the age of 18.
Thanks for hosting Robyn and the challenge to create new styles.

I went to your gallery and all three of your scraps are AMAZING. I wish I could meet everyone in your family (but especially the black sheep, laughing out loud!!!) Forget about being a newbie, you must have scrapper genes.

SHOW ME THE GLITTER! I want to see some glittery heritage! I'm having a bad day. :( My Internet at home got knocked out with a storm and won't be revived for more than a week... So, I am only able to get online at work on dial-up. Yuck! Sorry if I don't comment right away on your glitter but now you know why.

Poor Robyn....that's gonna be tough! I hated it when our power went out a while back and I couldn't even turn on my computer!! Ugh!!
Well here's my layout...I hope it'll cheer you up a little...but maybe not, I only dusted glitter here and there! Maybe someone else will 'glitz' your day a bit better!! Nevertheless, here's mine....

OK, Robyn, I'm really thankful for this challenge because my LO started out as a LO for the circle and stripes challenge but never worked out. So I let it sit for a while. You come up with the glitter and my LO now has become an odd collection of all sorts of things that usually can't be seen on an heritage LO, stickers, a cocktail thingy umbrella, a barcode tag....and I really like it now.
I stole the idea with the alpha with glitter around it from you, I hope you don't mind.
This was so much fun, you got me out of a rut here.
Here it is:

You do not need to worry about scrapping 'correctly' - your layouts are amazing.

Robyn said I could go back and do old challanges, so here's one for Glitter. The background I used was a scanned image of mother's dress.
