Late again ... I know! Sorry about that. I PROMISE next week I will be on time! This week's challenge is fun. Simply use at least one flower and one butterfly on a heritage layout. The pictures should be from the 1970's or before. No other rules. I can't wait to see the heritage garden bloom!
Here's my layout: Flower: 1942 (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=21951&cat=500&ppuser=1707)

Hi Robyn - I love your pages. They are so unique. I was thrilled when you posted a new challenge (my first in this category). I am new to digital scrapbooking and still trying to learn a lot of the tricks. On this page, I found the magnetic selection tool and was FINALLY able to find a way to make the paper look torn. I am sure there is an easier way - and a tutorial explaining somewhere - but I was satisfied to get the look no matter how beginner it might look. Thank you for hosting the challenge. I hope you will find my LO acceptable.

I love it! Thank you so much for participating. I left you some praise. The best paper tearing tutorial I have ever read is right here at Scrap Artist. Michelle Coleman wrote it. CLICK HERE. (http://www.scrapartist.com/scrapforums/showthread.php?t=730)

I have lots of photos from the 70s but they are sooooo...something (faded, orange, wierd). I assume it's the way the photos were processed back then and its a shame! Is there a tutorial out there or something that would help me fix these photos? I really want to scrap heritage pages but I hate that the photos are so washed in orange. So many are the only photos I have of my daughter as a baby.:(

I suspect that one of the problems you are encountering is color deterioration ... in the 1970's most photographs were printed on unstable paper. The major problem is that even if they are stored in the dark, the cyan dye fades away ... leaving strange colors.
Take a look at this PDF is gives quite a lot on info about this:
www.wilhelm-research.com/pdf/HW_Book_08_of_20_HiRes_v1a.pdf
I would suggest that anyone who has color images taken around that time scans them all in now to avoid any further deterioration.
There is no easy fix for these old photos. It takes a while to learn photo restoration! I've been at it for almost 10 years ... LOL! If you use Photoshop, here's an awesome book: Katrin Eismann's Photoshop Restoration and Retouching (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0321316274/ref=ord_cart_shr/104-8983913-0331152?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance)

thanks,

I don't usually use butterflys and flowers so this will be a lovely challenge to attempt.
I've had to come up to Scotland as my father has been admitted to hospital (and been diagnosed with cancer unfortunately) so this will be very therapeutic!
