I downloaded the freebie template and printed the directions, but I can't seem to get it to work. I see the directions for PSP, but not for PSE 4.

I think I need teh steps to be broken down, click by click. I am such a newbie at this.

Thanks!

Hi! here is the instructions in the freebies gallery:

To use these templates in Photoshop and PSE

1. Simply open your template,
Choose your desired papers, photos and elements

Then begin by selecting the layer in the template that you want covered by your patterned paper.
(by clicking on that layer in the layers palette.)

2. Next, Drag your desired paper into the template (Hold down the shift button to center it)
This will place your new paper over the template shape.
(PSE: click on the paper, do select all, copy and click on the template, click on the layer and paste)

3.Now we will create a clipping mask; that will allow your patterned paper to take the shape of the layered template. To do this hold down buttons:

(in CS and PSE) CNTRL+G
(in CS2) CNTRL+Alt+G

Your patterned paper has now taken the shape of the template, complete with shading!

4. Lock the new layer of patterned paper with the template shape and merge the two layers together.

5. Repeat this step for every layer in the template that you wish to change.

6. Do the same with your photos; No need to resize as long as the photo is large enough to cover the entire area of the photo shape, Just click on the photo shape in the template. Drag your photo over, Cntrl+G and merge the two layers together.

Make the layout yours! Add more elements, or brushwork, You can use these templates as a basis for your layout and adjust what you want. Or just use the template as is; for a quick and easy layout.
