I have always loved this effect when I see it on photos. Well I ran across a wonderful tutorial today over at escrappers.com that gives you step by step instructions.
Here it is: http://www.escrappers.com/midnightsepia.html

And here's a photo that I used it on that I took the other day of one of my sons

Yes - I LOVE the using Midnight Sepia in Photoshop too!! I'm addicted, I swear.

If you want to try it - I've attached Dave's Midnight Sepia photoshop action.
It makes it SO easy to achieve this look - in seconds!!!

Trust me - try this photoshop action - You'll LOVE it!!!!

Yep I agree ... love Dave's action for this and his others as well ... so easy. I like to play around with stopping it at different points in the action too ... by not selecting some of the steps to create a different effect.

Can't go wrong with it though ...

Dave Jaseck's actions are sooooo good, and so much easier than doing it yourself ... I use them all the time. If you use Photoshop CS, you might consider sharpening your image just a touch when you have finished running the action. It really makes a different to your image. The trick when using Dave's Midnight Gold action is to flatten the image after you have run the action, then lowering the Saturation just a little ... it makes for a beautiful image. And of course, sharpen it a little too. I am happy to help if you have questions about this ... Sharon :)

Ok, dumb newbie question here, but how exactly do I sharpen the image after I run the action? I'm using PSCS, but have never tried sharpening anything & don't know how to go about it. Thanks so much!

I have downloaded this very cool effect, but can't figure out where to put it!! I use PSE3 and put it in the presets/photoshop actions folder but I couldn't get to it when I opend up PSE3! Sorry for the question, but I really want to use this action!

Hey Artchick! I too have PSE 3.0 and you can't use actions with it. I tried so many times to but finally realized that you can't :0( It is very misleading since the program file has a folder for styles and actions! I downloaded the trial version of CS2 b/c I want it very badly and like the action feature!

Let me correct myself, you do have styles, not actions. Sorry!
