all this talk about the new "real" paper line by Michelle and Nancie made me wonder what to do with all my now unused patterned paper I have. Has anyone had success in scanning theirs to use it digitally?

Although I haven't done it often the one I remember is Basic Grey Xmas papers and I used them digitally. It was some time ago but I think I used 600 dpi to scan them in.
Worked great for me but maybe someone else will chip in with how they did/do it!

Be careful with this Doris! Technically when you have your layouts printed, you will be violating US Copyright Laws :)

Michelle, that is exactly what hit me as I drive to church this morning! I didn't even think of that last night - the copyright laws. I do own a bunch of discontinued Stampin' Up and ctmh discontinued papers, does that fall under that category? I am in the dark about that and don't want to do anything illegal! And I certainly understand that the artist wouldn't like their artwork scanned.
I heard somewhere, though I am not sure if it is true... that it is okay to scan your patterned paper and use it digitally, if you are supposed to rip up the original and throw it away. That way you aren't getting 2 uses for one cost. Not sure if that is true or not.

I have heard that too, Geri, although for my own purposes that is just awful close to going over the line. I am pretty sure that even if one is the world's most honest person and actually does rip up the original and also delete the paper after using it once, that the paper companies would still consider the scanning of the paper to be a copyright infringement because of the potential for abuse. :)

Yeah, I've heard the "only use it once" rule as well, but only in message boards, nothing official. Great topic -- would love to know the "real" answer on this as well!
I work in a print shop and you have to be very careful about scanning and using purchased paper. The copyright law is for at the least 50 years whether or not the company is out of business. Alot of companies will give one time permission but I would be careful to get it in writing.
