I thought we would do something a little different this week. Every once in a while I see a new scrapper that really catches my eye. The first time I saw work by Fiddlette, Mishou, MirandaM, SteinwaysMom ... just to name a few ... I was blown away. Birgit Wanvik (username: tyting (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=3680)) has really impressed me lately. She has such a different style than me - more clean, open spaces - and usually just one photo. Her use of elements is awesome and her layouts always look so realistic.

Your challenge this week is to use Birgit's gallery (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=3680) as inspiration for a heritage layout. If you feel more comfortable scraplifting, then scraplift away! I have already gotten permission from Birgit but please give proper credit. Personally, I am a terrible scraplifter and prefer to just use ideas I get from layouts.

Remember that photos on your layouts should be from the 1970's and before. I will post my example in a few minutes. Remember to give a link to your layout in this thread so we can admire your work!

I also asked Birgit to give us a little information about herself and here is what she had to say:

Here's a little info about me. My real name is Birgit. I started scrapping 8 months ago. I'm on the catscrap creative team. Never tried the real thing with paper and glue, but I love that look and try my best to make my digital LOs look paper-scrapped. I did my first heritage LO a couple of weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it so now there are 4 in my gallery. I get most of my inspiration from looking at other peoples LOs in online galleries and books about scrapbooking. But I can find inspiration in just about anything. Magazines, clothes, art...

I used Birgit's "Me" (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15198&cat=500&ppuser=3680) layout as inspiration. Mine is called Cactus Cowgirl: 1973 (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15640&cat=585).

I have just joined this site but found this interesting. I just finished a page for my ancestry scrapbook. These are my great great grandparents on my father's side. I call it Meiner (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15721&limit=recent). I enjoy Birgit's minimalist style. Thank you. I hope you enjoy mine.

I took inspitation from the way Tyting uses her ribons in her 'Oskar' page and the way she arranges her elements to complement her photos.
Here is my attempt. http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15671&page=0

Those are both awesome!

Soartsy - I was wondering if you could upload your layout to the Scrap Artist gallery please. I would love for everyone here to see it.

here is my attempt at this challenge:

This challenge was more difficult than it looked -- and I am not sure that I am that pleased with the results. It isn't a scraplift - I was actually trying to emulate Birgit's style.
*wry grin* Now my backside is numb, and my eyes are all bleary and bloodstained from staring at the screen. lol... and my husband has been wondering if I am EVER going to bed!

I don't know... as I said, I am not sure I like my results.

robyn hi
i have started a scraplift... but spent the last three days in the paddock helping split and load stumps and then unload them at home, and yesterday, being an ex butcher, cut up two bullocks. Today is first day on the computer for four days.... shock horror... and i am so stiff and sore i can hardly move my shoulders!!!! if i can get my arms to move ever again.... I will get this lo finished next couple days and get back into doing what i want to do instead of what i need to do!!!!
know of a good massager????

smiles

here is my LO

Background pimjv,
Elements Heart Christina Blomberg, cross Kimberly Reid, frame ML,
This is my attempt at scraplifting Mormor, LO. No I didn’t attempt to do something creative other than scraplift, I have been too exhausted this week to think creatively!!
This LO is of my mother in law’s elder sister.
Erica Kloeden was born in 1916, and died aged two years, in her mother’s arms,
of whooping cough. She is buried in the Denial Bay Lutheran Church cemetery.

sorry it is late...
