OK, we are really going to focus in on Actions this week. A few weeks ago Nevermore said this:
I would love to see a column on actions--what actions people have made because they are so helpful to workflow. I have lots of actions that give certain filters and effects but most of the ones for workflow I did myself like the one posted above (although I haven't done this one). My most frequently used action that I have assigned to a keyboard shortcut is the rule of thirds guide (it turns on the view of grids and lays down the grid at 33.33%) so I can flash it on when I want to place something even if I have already set up my grids at some other formula for other reasons. I also have an action (not assigned to a keyboard shortcut) that lays down a solid layer behind those nasty .png files and saves them so I can SEE what the stitching, overlay etcetera looks like which makes it easier using Bridge or Album to find what I want.
So if you have never recorded an action... here's how to do that. First in your Actions Palette, click on the little button that looks like a post it note. That will allow you to create a new action. Then give your new action a name and press record. After this, go through the steps you would like the action to take. And then push the button at the bottom of your actions pallete to stop recording. The most important part of creating an action is to test test test it. Run it on some images and make sure that you did the steps you wanted and your results are what you expected.
So, if you have made an action before, or have any other action tips... feel free to share them here. Or, if you have questions about actions also! :)
If you have never made an action before... try one out, you can try one of Nevermores, or any action you think you might use! :)
