OK, I will admit that I have not tried this yet. But I do love shortcuts (once I learn them) and find them so time saving... so when I ran across this article I was intrigued. I thought I would post it for todays Tip Tuesday. The article is about setting up your own customized shortcuts.

I know I use the shortcuts I know frequently, so I am going to try to set up some "custom ones" and see how it works this week! :) Let me know if you set any up and how it worked on this thred if you do! :)
Have a great week! :)

this is so great -- i LOVE shortcuts but the worst part for me is remembering all of them. if I can just set them to be whatever I deem then that just might help! Thanks Ange!

I thought I'd share my favorite shortcut I've made... actually it's an action but I assigned a shortcut to it so does that count?
When I scrap I always save 3 copies of my layouts:
1. PSD
2. Full Res JPEG
3. Web JPEG
I store these in 3 different folders (PSD, Full-Res, and Web) duh...
Anyway, I got bored going through all the actions of saving 3 times everytime I finished a layout so I made an action that goes through, does the flattening, the re-sizing, and saving in appropriate folders.
So now, everytime I hit Shift-F3, I get my 3 copies of my layouts put in all their right folders in the blink of an eye! I highly recommend making an action to do this if you have a high enough version of PS - it's so simple but such a huge time saver!

COOL! I didn't even know you could do that!! You should write a tutorial on how. I'm not much of a short cut person but I need to learn some!

I have many but the three that I use so much they get *f* keys (thereby bumping what came shipped) are 1. F3 which I have made tile vertically. I have do this about ninety times a layout so I can drag layers or see what I am doing. It is assigned to both my keyboard and my tablet. 2. F9 which I have assigned to rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise. I also use that a lot with every layout because most designers pack ribbons horizontally and I always want to flip them. Or I scanned in at the wrong rotation. Or I want to lay down text vertically. Whatever. And 3. F6 which I assigned to Match Colour. I do use Hue-Saturation quite a lot but for a long time Match Colour has been my weapon of choice and I use it first. If it won't get me what I want, then I use Hue-Saturation.
Love this *column*, Ange. I would love to see one on actions--what actions people have made because they are so helpful to workflow. I have lots of actions that give certain filters and effects but most of the ones for workflow I did myself like the one posted above (although I haven't done this one). My most frequently used action that I have assigned to a keyboard shortcut is the rule of thirds guide (it turns on the view of grids and lays down the grid at 33.33%) so I can flash it on when I want to place something even if I have already set up my grids at some other formula for other reasons. I also have an action (not assigned to a keyboard shortcut) that lays down a solid layer behind those nasty .png files and saves them so I can SEE what the stitching, overlay etcetera looks like which makes it easier using Bridge or Album to find what I want.

ok, on HappyRobyn's suggestion I created a quick tutorial to making your own action to save multiple versions of your digital layouts:

Enjoy!
