OK, I know a lot of you already have installed "Virtual Photographer", but I really think it's worth a mention over here at Tip Tuesday. If you don't have it installed go here:

http://www.optikvervelabs.com/

and download this FREE set of filters that are totally AWESOME!! I really don't use mine enough. I put up an image in the gallery here (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=11311&limit=recent). It shows the original photo and three of the filters.

Virtual Photographer is easy to install, the directions are right there on their website and if I can do it, anyone can! :)

Also, more advanced users... did you know that you can download some extra filters for your VP at optikvervelabs under downloads and then extras. Try this link here:

Have a great week! :)

Life would not be complete without Virtual Photographer! OK ... yes it would but my layouts wouldn't be nearly as good. I use it daily and on almost every layout. Love it, love it, LOVE IT! You really NEED it. The big downfall is that it is not compatible with a Mac unless they have recently changed that.

I love VP, but I've yet to discover a way to get the additional settings into the program. I like the "previews" you get with the original settings, but can't seem to do that with the additional ones. Any tips? TIA!

Photojenic... when you run the VP filter, can you use the little sliders to change the effects over on the right? So like you take "fashion" and then you can tweak the settings on fashion to make it softer, lighter, etc. Can you do that? Just trying to make sure I know what you are asking! You can do this on the original filters, but not on the new plug ins... right?

I wasn't very clear. I was trying to say that I love the additional settings that you can download from the site....but I wish there was some way to get them **into** VP's drop down menu, just like the original settings. I sometimes forget they are there because they have to be loaded into the program. KWIM?

Just another little side note on the VP filters -- sometimes the effect is a little too heavy for my taste, so what I usually will do is duplicate the image, run the VP filter and then play with the opacity of the filtered layer to revel a little of the original image through. That way you tend to get the effect, but watered down a little bit. But, their color effects (like the brightening) can not be beat -- definitely a great tool to have! (and you can't beat the price...lol)

I lke to use VP sometimes too, but my tip is to always run it on a duplicated top layer... that way you can adjust opacity of the effect. I also like to mix and match... Sometimes I really like a mix of Fall Colors with the Halo, gives it a very warm dreamy effect!
