This week we are going to be using tags in our heritage layouts. Specifically, I would like to see pictures on the tags. You will see on my samples what I mean. Tags come in many kits but are also really easy to make yourself. In fact, Nancie has a tag template kit (http://www.scrapartist.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=198) here at Scrap Artist.

Last week on my sample layout, I used a tag that came in Dianne's kit and then just blended a photo on top of it. Here is the link to that layout: Easter Princess (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9843&cat=500&ppuser=1707)

I will be back in a few moments to post links to a couple more new sample layouts.

Participants in the challenge this week will receive the final part of my War kit. This link has the overlays, ephemera and buttons.

I just posted 2 sample layouts (they are father and daughter):
Captain Charles Sonsmith (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10257&limit=last7) and Paulina Sonsmith Kramer (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10259&limit=last7)

I have one more layout to post but have to get to work now. I can't wait to see your layouts!

I posted these a while ago but they are good examples of using a photo on a tag: Grandma Rapp (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=7621&cat=585) and Pietro Archangeli (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=6220&cat=500&ppuser=1707)

Sometimes I can be slow on the uptake and it has taken me this long to figure out why you are hosting this challenge but it becoming perfectly clear to me that you have a plethora, a cornucopia, a river, an ocean of wonderful old photographs of people actually related to you! Beyond my grandparents, I know my great grandfather's name on my father's side and that is it. Talk about nuclear family! It is very hard for me to do these challenges without using the same photos over and over and over again. Ah well, necessity is the mother of invention and I need the last part of the kit! Off to deconstruct an earlier layout so I can reuse the picture. Again.

LOL Nevermore. Yes ... you caught me ... I have more photos than I could scrap in this lifetime!! Take a look at my family tree web site and you will know what I mean: England Tree (http://www.englandtree.com)

Go to the photo album section. There are hundreds of pictures on the site with many hundreds more still needing to be scanned. Seems as though I have become the clearinghouse for all old family pictures. People send them to me without much begging anymore!! One helpful thing was my great-grandmother who lived to be almost 103. She was a wealth of knowledge. And my Dad is very into old family pictures so his side has awesome pics.

I know you don't have many heritage pics and I appreciate that you still partake in the challenge!! Have fun with your deconstruction/reconstruction.

It says something about this challenge that I actually finished it this week before the altered or Simply You. Guess I really am finding it challenging!

I do have a problem with these kinds of layouts--I feel like I never have the exact right number of elements. Perhaps by the time Great Grandfather is starring in his tenth layout...

This one was so much fun. I am not a girly person but I am really enjoying these femmie lacy little layouts.

The photo on the tag is a brush made out of a cutout of the photo. Betty & Company (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10334&nocache=1)

I just had to find a way to use your great War kit. the papers are awesome. So here is a war themed layout using dog tags! I don't have as many pictures as you, but I do have a lot and more that need scanning. So bring on the challenges :)

This one doesn't exactly fit the challenge but it has an alpha on a fabric tag, which I think is a fun idea + a journal tab...Hildred German: Wedding (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10516&cat=500&ppuser=2520)

Sorry I haven't been putting my examples in the Heritage Challenge gallery but I like to keep all of my 4x6 layouts in their own gallery. Anyway, here's another example. I used 3 tags: Springtime (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10557&limit=last7)

Finished the heritage challenge at the last minute. I've always used tags on my paper layouts, but this was a first for digital scrapbooking. Thanks for making me change my ways.
