This week's challenge is more of a photo editing challenge - selective coloring!

With the right photo, you can get some really cool effects using selective coloring. Contrary to popular belief, it is actually very easily done.

In PSP8 (you should be able to apply to other versions of Paint Shop Pro), I first duplicate my image (Image -> Duplicate), and completely desaturate the top layer (Adjust -> Hue and Saturation -> Colorize (0, 0). Then, using the eraser tool, I erase out the parts of the photo that I'd like to keep in color. When you are finished, simply flatten the image (Layers -> Merge -> Merge All (Flatten)).

A photoshop tutorial and examples can be found here http://www.pdnonline.com/pdn/cp/olympus/technology/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001700324

and SBB has one for DIP users here http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-script/tutorials/publish/article_402.shtml

One example of my dd - she has the most amazing baby blues, I had to use selective coloring to accentuate them

Have fun!

This is one of my favorite techniques. For even more fun you can play w/blending modes...

I just uploaded a layout for this challenge. I cheated a little because it was an old layout but it isn't in my gallery here! Here's the link: Am I Blue? (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9119&limit=last7)

I also have another layout that is already in my gallery: A Soul Of Gold! (http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4507&cat=500&ppuser=1707)

Great challenge!!
