I love all the circle text and "seals" that are popular right now. And to this point thought one of downside of using Photoshop Elements was not being able to do circle text. But then I found this tutorial. It does take a little trial and error to get it correct, but once you've played with it a little you get great results.
*Open a new page and make it transparent.
*Choose the text tool and your font and start on the very left hand side of the page and about half way down.
*Type the text you want. You want the text to go from one side of the page to the other.
*When you have it about right go to your toolbar at the top. Choose Filter - distort - polar co-ordinates.
*Choose rectangular to polar and click ok.
*Your text should now be in a circle.

Will this work in photoshop CS, Angie? I've wanted to try it, but find the text tool so frustrating, usually, I just go with basic stuff!

I use PSP and what I do is create first my vector layer with the circle then a new layer for my text. let the text visor do a little gradient thingy then you can start typing until you are happy with your journaling then I convert my text layer to a raster layer and now it is ready to copy and paste! Probably the long way round but works for me!

I don't use CS...so i'm not sure. I'm sure someone on here does and can let you know what works best for them.

I think in CS you can make a circle and make it a selection and stroke selection with text... this is why I want CS or CS 2. I use PS 7 but am envious of all those CS users!!

Oh YES, this is one of the new features of Photoshop CS, you can text along a line, text along a curve, text in a circle, oh me too. I soooooo badly want CS, for this main reason.

YES!! Thank you so much! I can't believe how simple that is...I thought that was impossible in PSE and I was using PSP to do it, but it's much more complicated there---at least for me, since my program of choice is PSE and I am very familiar with it. THANK YOU!!=)

[I like to have my words with the bottoms on the "inside" of the circle....but it came out with the bottoms of the words on the "outside" of the circle. so I rotated my text 180* before distorting, and voila![/
Thanks so much! I can't wait to use this in a layout or mini kit! :-)

Great tip about rotating the text 180 degrees, Kathy! I just stumbled unpon a stort cut! Instead of going to Filter>Distort> Polar coordinates you can do the same thing with Ctrl + F.
Also if your text looks a little distorted try stretching it to 2x it's hieght before doing Crtl + F. Stretching it to 2xs it's hieght also works if you want to turn a line of flowers or dots other things into a circle.

PSCS2 'is' great for this stuff - I'm still learning, but it's all about paths (not the ones you put your feet on - but gee, sometimes I wish I could kick it!), and stroking the path (gently of course!!!).
Good on you Ange for finding a way to do it in PSE - much better than cutting out and pasting each word!
