Hi everyone, Heather here with my first blog post, yippee! I am excited to share a fun little hybrid project with you:
Many of you will remember the ubiquitous cootie catcher of the 80’s. My grade school friends and I would huddle together on the playground, taking turns giggling about our so-called fortune. It is a really fun game for children of all ages. My daughter will be giving these out to her friends on Valentine’s Day.
You too can give this cute game out for Valentine’s Day!

Special thanks to ScrapArtist designer extraordinaire Aja Abney for allowing me to use her beautiful Sweet Valentine kit to create this freebie.
While the cootie catcher is pretty simple to construct, I like to provide a little visual direction for visual learners like me.
1. Print and cut out the image. Regular paper works just fine as long as you print on high quality or best mode.
2. Take one corner and join it with the opposite corner, folding the square shape into a triangle. For best results, use a straight edge and bone folder to score the paper. This will yield clean, precise folds.
3. Unfold the paper, then repeat Step 3 for the other corners. Once you unfold the paper, your paper should be segmented into four quadrants. Now flip over your paper so that the unprinted side is up.
4. Fold all corners to the center of the paper. Flip over your paper again, with folds facing down.
5. Fold all corners to the center of the papers, just like you did in Step 4.
6. Fold your paper in half horizontally, then vertically. Insert your fingers underneath the tabs to open it up.
The cootie catcher game instructions are included in the download. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
